The South East Pembrokeshire Community Health Network’s new chair Clr. Jonathan Preston has told councillors in Tenby that he will certainly keep the pressure on the Hywel Dda Health Board to address concerns raised about appointments at the town’s doctor’s surgery and in finding out answers as to why the facility seemed to be struggling to get doctors.
Members of Tenby Town Council raised concerns regarding issues with patients queuing at the surgery at 7.30 am in the vain hope that they might be able to get an appointment.
“There are lots of issues, and it doesn’t seem to be the best way to run something, but it’s not a reflection on the people that are working there, who are working incredibly hard,” commented Clr. Laurence Blackhall recently.
At Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, town clerk Andrew Davies told members that he’d received a letter back from the practice manager Helen Roberts who asked the town council if they could direct any concerns they had directly to to the practice of the Hywel Dda Health Board. She also explained that information leaflets on how the appointments system worked were available at the surgery.
“Maybe we need to get some of the information leaflets here at the town council offices for the public, as people are struggling to know how and when the appointments work,” said the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane.
Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas said that the next meeting of South East Pembrokeshire Community Health Network, to be chaired by Clr. Jon Preston, would take place on Tuesday, November 21, at New Hedges Village Hall, at 2 pm.
