Health clinics currently held at Pembroke Dock Health Centre will temporarily move to South Pembrokeshire Hospital from Monday, September 28.

The move is expected to last for around six months while the Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust (WAST) uses part of Pembroke Dock Health Centre during refurbishment work at Pembroke Dock Ambulance Station.

The temporary move will support the Welsh Ambulance Service to continue providing local services while refurbishment work takes place at the Ambulance Station.

South Pembrokeshire Hospital is around one mile from Pembroke Dock Health Centre, which is approximately a four-minute drive.

The following services will temporarily relocate their clinics:

  • Sexual Health
  • Audiology
  • Health Visiting
  • Diabetic Eye Screening (Public Health Wales)
  • Chronic Pain
  • Heart Failure
  • Hepatology

Patients whose appointments are impacted by the temporary relocation will be told where to attend their appointment. Anyone who is unsure should check their appointment letter or contact the service named on their appointment information. Many of these services already provide clinics at South Pembrokeshire Hospital.

South Pembrokeshire Hospital offers a range of facilities to support patients attending clinics. These include disabled parking spaces, a portering service, a full-time reception service and additional clinic space that supports joined-up working between services. Patients and visitors can also enjoy use of the meadow, walking loop and seating areas.

During the temporary move, Hywel Dda University Health Board will gather feedback from patients, carers, staff and the wider community. This feedback will help the Health Board understand the impact of the move and whether South Pembrokeshire Hospital could be a suitable long-term location for these clinics

South Pembrokeshire Hospital offers good facilities and accessibility for patients. We encourage people to share their views on the move and whether they feel South Pembrokeshire Hospital could be a suitable long-term location for these clinics."

Feedback will be reviewed during the temporary relocation period and shared with the services involved before any longer-term decision is made.

The Health Board will also consider practical issues raised by patients, carers, staff and the wider community, including travel, access, facilities and the overall experience of attending appointments at South Pembrokeshire Hospital.
