A free CPR and defibrillator training session will be held in Haverfordwest Library, on Wednesday, April 20, from 5 - 7pm. Welsh Hearts are urging people to take advantage of this free training and learn some life-saving skills!

Welsh Hearts have trained almost 11,000 people in CPR and have placed 362 defibrillators across communities in Wales. The aim of this is to drastically improve the chances of those that have cardiac arrests outside of hospital where the first few minutes are absolutely crucial in saving their lives. When a cardiac arrest happens outside a hospital, it’s shocking that the survival rate is only threed per cent. Where an AED (defibrillator) is used, the survival rate is 50 per cent.

Meinir Lewis, the fundraising manager for Mid and West Wales, said: “Too many people here in Wales are losing their lives to heart disease on a daily basis. There are 8,000 cardiac arrests that happen outside of a hospital each year, so it’s so important for communities all across Wales to be fully equipped with life-saving skills and equipment.”

You must book your place for this free training session, so please visit welshhearts.org/training. For further information about how you can get a defibrillator for your community, please contact Meinir Lewis on 07422 523734.
