Alistair Cameron, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Candidate for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, has raised concerns with Pembrokeshire County Council about the future of the Sandy Bears counselling service for bereaved children.

This follows strong expressions of support in social media about the value of this service for families of bereaved children. The future of the service has come under doubt following withdrawals of support from the Home Office and the National Assembly for Wales government.

Alistair said: “I understand Hywel Dda Health Board have sent a paper with a number of options to the council. I would like to know what those options are and how the public in Pembrokeshire will be consulted over them. It is clear from just reading the comments on social media how valued this service is at a time when families are in a desperate situation. We really must provide support to families who face the trauma of losing a loved one.”
