Sir,

Does the local tourist board give a health warning to would-be tourists coming to the Hywel Dda Local Health Board catchment area not to have accidents or be taken ill whilst on holiday? That resources are so stretched in Tenby and surrounding area that we have to rely on the British Red Cross to help out in emergencies as though we are a ‘third world country.’ I greatly admire the work of the Red Cross, but what an indictment to our health service, what do we pay national insurance for?

Together with the latest disorganisation concerning Withybush Hospital, it makes me wonder if our human rights are being compromised, that patients, locals and visitors are likely to be transported far from home in the hope that they will get medical care. I dispute health board claims that we are not being disadvantaged, because at present we have a health service that cannot be relied on or trusted, that is definitely a disadvantage.
