Health services in Tenby were described as the town's 'apocalypse' this week when local councillors met with the leader of Pembrokeshire County Council. The authority's leader Clr. Jamie Adams, who met with members of Tenby Town Council ahead of their meeting on Tuesday night, was told that the recent closure of the town's Minor Injuries Unit at the Cottage Hospital had led to a disastrous knock-on effect for the resort, with the local GP surgery now struggling to cope with the demand of patients in the area. "The health service is Tenby's apocalypse. The town is disadvantaged with health provision...it's not at breaking point anymore, it's broken!" Clr. Mike Evans told his fellow members and Clr. Adams. "Health provision problems across the county has had a knock on effect and I'm unconvinced that Glangwili has the capacity to cope with an extra influx of visitors. "Six or seven years ago, it was mooted that a general hospital could be situated strategically somewhere around Penblewin by Narberth. Looking back, maybe that chance should have been grabbed?" added Clr. Adams. Clr. Dr. Peter Easy said that the town council and the people of Tenby were not receiving enough information on important issues and being kept in the dark, and he urged Clr. Adams to look at building better links between town and community councils, the county council and the
