Guest of honour at Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild's annual fun run/walk this year will be Pembrokeshire racehorse McKelvey, who finished second in the Grand National at Aintree.

"We were delighted to watch McKelvey's success," said a spokesperson this week. "The Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild are extremely privileged that its owners said yes to our request for the horse to attend. This event is going to be the best yet." Organised in conjunction with Col. Rogers and the British Army at Castlemartin, the 17th annual fun run/walk will take place at Newton Tower, St. Govans, on September 16.

It will comprise a four-mile or eight-mile run or walk - you decide - with registration for walkers or runners at 10.30 am ready for a 12 noon start. A barbecue will be available from 11 am, with refreshments and attractions also provided for the children. There will also be a well-stocked souvenir stall with RNLI merchandise.

Indeed, it's a real family day out, and why not bring your dog along on a lead, as he too can be sponsored to walk! Sponsor forms are available from Mrs. Viv Kerrison on (01646) 672168 or Mrs. Norma Surtees on (01646) 683900.

Meanwhile, a superb new attraction this year will be the guided tractor and trailer rides, one at 12.30 and one at 2 pm, so the breathtaking scenery can then be enjoyed by you all. Please don't miss it, as with your help, so much money is raised for this amazing organisation each year.
