Last week a Food Starter pack from Keep Wales Tidy was installed in the Tenby Community Edible Garden, also known as the Gilroy Phillips Memorial Garden on Sutton Street.

Thanks to all the hard work by the volunteers and expert help from David Rowe, the local Keep Wales Tidy project officer, two raised beds, two trellises and lots of plants were put in and planted.

There is now several fruit bushes, strawberry bushes and lots of different herbs, as well as honeysuckle, clematis and hops.

There are hanging baskets ready to go up in the spring, a bee house and two bird boxes.

“Thanks to Keep Wales Tidy for giving this pack to us, and thanks to everyone who is helping to keep an eye on it while it all gets settled in,” said Ann Draper.

“Hopefully there will be a great harvest of fruit and herbs next year! Everyone is welcome to come along to the garden whenever they want and do a bit of tidying or weeding or watering, whatever they can help with that they see needs doing.

“There is a watering can and gardening tools in the big chest behind the garden bench under the shelter.

“If you find any produce ready to be picked, please pick it and use it yourself or hand it on to someone who can – there is nothing worse than growing things only to see them not get eaten,” she added.
