Celebrating her 100th birthday today (Friday) is Tenby resident, Mrs. Alice Speyer.
Born in Liverpool on February 13, 1904, Mrs. Speyer, of Ivy Cottage, Cob Lane, first came to Pembrokeshire in 1939 when her husband, Edmund, an intelligence officer with the RAF was posted to Pembroke Dock.
Mrs. Speyer, who worked as a social secretary for the English Speaking Union in London, before her marriage in 1935, has two sons, Paul, who is married to Caroline and lives in Princes Gate, and Richard, who is married to Liz and resides in Bath.
Mrs. Speyer also has six grandchildren and five great-granddaughters, who she says 'keep her young'.
Mrs. Speyer, whose hobbies include birds and gardening, puts her longevity down to "leading a busy life with many moves and having two small children to look after."
