A mechanical engineer from Cross Hands, near Narberth, has been hailed a hero after saving the life of a teenager trapped in a burning car. Father-of-two Ian Hodgkinson was taking his son to school when he came across the serious accident on the Templeton road a week last Tuesday. A Ford Fiesta overturned after crashing into a tree and the driver, Christian Nicholas, 18, from Yerbeston, was unconscious and trapped inside. Mr. Hodgkinson pulled tree branches out of the way, wrenched open the door and pulled Christian to safety. The casualty was airlifted to Morriston Hospital, Swansea, where he is due to return for an operation this week. PC Paul Rees, who dealt with the accident, believes that Mr. Hodgkinson should be nominated for a bravery award for his actions.
