ART lovers everywhere are invited to view the latest paintings and drawings by illustrious Welsh artist and writer, Iwan Bala, with an exhibition titled GWALES, at the Queen's Hall Gallery, Narberth.
The exhibition opened last Saturday and runs until December 6, with The Gallery being open between 10 am and 5 pm, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Tuesday and Wednesday by arrangement.
On the eve of the exhibition, Iwan spoke to the Observer about his art
"My work attempts to define the cultural particularity that I was born with, the language, myths, history and poetry," he explained.
"I don't regard my activities as being those of a traditional painter. I often combine different media in each piece; each material has its distinct quality which adds to the symbolism of the imagery."
Iwan discussed some of his latest pieces of work, two paintings 'Hedland' and 'Calon/El corozon'.
"Firstly they work as paintings, but if people look closer into them and find out more about the background of the subject matters, they work on several different levels, revealing inner, hidden depths," he said.
Gallery manager Lynne Crompton is delighted that Iwan has agreed to have an exhibition of his work at the Queen's Hall.
'The gallery's reputation has gradually grown over the last 10 years and we are very glad that Iwan has chosen to display his work here," said Lynne.
"I believe it's important to keep a strong Welsh theme and Iwan is one of the top artists in Wales. Visitors will learn and take a lot from seeing his work."
Also on sale at the gallery will be Iwan's newly-published book 'Here and Now', along with his other renowned books.
