The skies around Pembrokeshire look set to be a little duller this Guy Fawkes Night after a number of the regular firework displays have not been organised due to increased insurance costs. We understand that there will be no public displays in Tenby, Saundersfoot and Wiseman's Bridge. However, next Friday is sure to go with a bang in Whitland, where the town's firefighters are organising their 10th display. To celebrate the special anniversary, the town's fire station has invested £6,000 in the display, which is being co-ordinated by Chris Allen, of Narberth-based West Coast Fireworks. Runner-up at this year's British Fireworks Championship, Chris has a spectacular display planned, with the final firework being used for the first time in Britain. The Waterfall shoots 600 feet into the air before exploding into a 60 feet wide waterfall effect. "We also have plenty of other new fireworks and are also trying to entice people in by offering top prizes on the night, including a DVD player, tickets to Oakwood and vouchers," said leading firefighter, Meurig Evans. The display takes place at Parc Dr. Owen at 7.30 pm. Admission is £3 for adults and £2 for children. Free park and ride is available from the RFC ground and the mart.
