The Mayoress of Neath/Port Talbot was the guest of honour recently at the South West Wales Federation of Townswomen's Guilds Arts and Crafts Exhibition held at the Princess Royal Theatre, Port Talbot.

Hosted by Mrs. Rhona Williams, arts and crafts chairman, assisted by Mrs. Anne Sillick, Federation vice-chairman, the event, as always, proved very popular and many beautiful pieces of work were on display.

The theme of the exhibition was 'A Special Day', and tables were decorated in keeping with the chosen day of each of the 11 guilds taking part. These included christenings, weddings and wedding anniversaries, St. David's Day, Christmas Day and a Harvest Festival.

The judges were: arts, crafts and child's cushion - Mrs. P. Pring; photography - Mrs. J. Morgan; flower arrangement - Miss Molly Vile; cookery (chocolate sponge) - Mrs. J. Beddoe. All were impressed with the high standard of entries.

Results were: Best exhibit (christening gown and cap) - Baglan. Table and crafts - 1. Burry Port; 2. Gorseinon; 3. Port Talbot. Photography - joint 1. Tenby and Gorseinon. Flower arrangement - Tenby. Cookery - Port Talbot. Child's embroidered cushion - Gorseinon.

At the end of the afternoon, Federation chairman, Mrs. Joy Griffiths, thanked Mrs. Williams for the tremendous amount of work and time she had put into the organisation of the event which she presented, as usual, with her unfailing good humour, and gave Mrs. Williams a crystal vase as a memento of the day.
