Saundersfoot Sports and Social Club was the venue for a very successful coffee morning last Thursday in aid of the Tenby and Pembrokeshire Fundraising Branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Cymru.
The event was well attended and a total of £381.15 was raised.
Branch secretary, Eva Rich, who was accompanied by her guide dog, Oyster, thanked everyone for their support, with special thanks to Roger and Barbara for the use of the Sports Club, and Powell's Holidays for their advertising space.
Thanks were also expressed to the kind folk who had donated raffle prizes and the winners were - Connie King, Rosemary Hayes, Winifred Hewlings, Bill Cleevely, Joan Parry, Pam Field, Jane Rees, Hilary Turner, Philippa Giles, Wendy Richards, Brenda Woods, Marina Harries, and Gwyneth Jenkins.
The coffee morning was the last fundraising event in what has been a very busy year for the branch, with various street and store collections throughout the county, stalls on Saundersfoot Harbour, and talks to many schools and organisations.
Thanks to everyone who has helped in any way and to the general public for their generosity.
Money is always needed so that new and replacement dogs are available as and when required, providing visually impaired people with mobility and independence in safety. There are currently 15 working guide dogs in Pembrokeshire, John Lloyd and Wilma also being present at the coffee morning, with several more on the waiting list.
The branch is always looking for more volunteers, and if anyone has a few hours to spare, they would be most welcome and should contact Eva Rich on 01834 812868.
