A local fundraiser has raised a magnificent £2,605 so far in aid of Diabetes UK after taking on a gruelling 140 mile cycle ride on the weekend.
Jack Mason finished the ride on Sunday from Bristol to Stackpole, in memory of his brother Hugh, who passed away in 2017 aged 22 from Type 1 Diabetes in 2017.
He had originally planned to cycle the ‘Ride London’ event this year but as it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 outbreak, he decided to take on a bigger challenge cycling to his family home.
He was greeted by his baby daughter Millicent and family and friends on completion of the challenge.
“My thanks go out to everyone who has supported me and the ride. All the messages before, during and after the event really made it possible for me to do this, so a massive thank you to my family who have supported me in the training and event,” said Jack.
“Finally thank you to the two friends Mike and Ian who did the first 50km with me and also local farmer Chris James who joined me on the last 80km. Also, I can’t forget my dad who dropped of water and food to me 100 miles into the ride.
“The amount raised is currently £2,605 but its still going up slowly,” he added.
