Elements Gymnastics Academy is voluntary organisation based at the 21C Community Centre in Pembroke. It first opened in November last year and is growing very fast and successfully as a club. It already has around 85-plus members and is currently extending all sessions throughout the week.
Coach is Jadie Edwards who was just 20-years-old when she first set up this organisation. She has a huge background in gymnastics and dancing, however.
"I started the sport from the age of five and trained to quite a high level," she explains. "I entered numerous competitions such as women's artistic, acrobatics and rhythmic and won numerous titles, representing Dyfed and the West Area in Welsh finals.
"I pursued my career from being a gymnast into being a high level gymnastics coach. I have had a lot of success as gymnasts I have previously coached have been members of the West Wales and Welsh gymnastics squad in Cardiff! Due to their talents I transferred them to a great club in Llanelli to take them on to a higher level, due to my club not having the equipment to cater for their needs. But we are looking forward to getting more exciting gymnastics equipment very soon!
'NEW' EGA holds pre-school gymnastics sessions for children aged from 18 months to four years old. There are two types of sessions, where one is accompanied and the other is independent, all depending on the child's stage of development.
Pre-school gymnastics is all about learning the fundamental skills of life and other sporting activities through play. All sessions are theme-based, fulfilled with creative and colourful education methods to learn a variety of skills such as sensory skills, hand and eye co-ordination, balance, agility, natural strength and flexibility, social skills and independence. Also to keep them mentally and physically healthy for a long, happy lifestyle.
"We are currently looking into running sessions for Fun4Babies that will have the same structure as the pre-school gymnastics sessions," added Jadie
"We also teach Gym4all for children aged from five-years-old to 13-plus. The sessions are all about learning the basic skills within gymnastics and building self-confidence and friendship. We have our first competitions coming up very soon and we wish all the girls and boys best of luck. We also do an A-Z award scheme where they learn skills to achieve badges and certificates .
"We would like to say a huge thank you to Community Chest, Valero and the Port Authority for generously sponsoring our gymnastics club! The donations/grants have helped us tremendously as a club to teach the gymnasts a wider range of gymnastics skills. Thank you very much.
"We would also like to say a huge thank you to our supportive welfare officer, Jo Morris, for doing a fantastic job in supporting the club, and also to the parents who volunteer to help during the sessions are who are willing to become a gymnastics coaches.
"If you are interested in your child joining the Gym4All, pre-school gymnastics sessions or becoming a volunteer helper/coach or another job role, then please don't hesitate and contact us today!"
