Key public service figures in Pembrokeshire are to get together to study how the county can react to future changing economic and social pressures. The task group is being set-up as Pembrokeshire stands on the threshold of a possible economic boom with a number of large scale investments on the horizon. The seven-strong 'think-tank' will be led by Pembrokeshire County Council leader John Davies. "These are exciting times for Pembrokeshire" he explained. "Besides the two LNG terminals, large scale tourist developments may be built, together with the possibility of at least one power station. "All this growth is bound to have an influence on our daily lives and we need to look at what measures need to be taken so that the quality of life we enjoy in Pembrokeshire is maintained and enhanced. "For instance one of the indicators we will be studying closely is the growing population of elderly people on health and social services. What effect will that have on services in the county in, say, 10 years time? "We need to plan ahead." The group will report to the Community Planning and Leadership Partnership and comprises Clr. John Davies, Bryn Parry-Jones (chief executive, Pembrokeshire County Council), Glyn Jones (principal, Pembrokeshire College), Frank O'Sullivan (chief executive, Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust), Chris Martin (chairman, Local Health Board), Chief Superintendent Paul Amphlett (Dyfed-Powys Police) and Danny Fellows (ELWa).
