The second annual Narberth Cricket Club Black Tie Ball was a very successful evening. It was held at the Narberth Rugby Club and the evening was sponsored by G. D. Harries and Sons, Haulage Contractors.

This year's theme was the Hollywood blockbuster 'Mamma Mia' and the room at the club was beautifully decorated by the ladies of the social committee. The evening began with a wonderful champagne reception, sponsored by Sarah Kent, of Tanners Wine Merchants. The evening was supervised by supporter, friend and local County Councillor Wynne Evans, who once again provided his doorman services to the event, for which the club is very grateful.

After chairman Huw Simpkins welcomed the guests, the evening began with a sumptuous cold meat buffet provided by Andrew Rees butchers of Narberth and wonderfully catered by Sioned Gibby.

The entertainment began with an hour or so of Abba-inspired cabaret provided by Miss Mary-Jane Rees, which went down a real storm. Afterwards, there was a short firework display, sponsored by Nick Evans, of The Narberth Cricket Shop.

The evening continued with an auction of various sporting memorabilia donated by members of the club. It was a huge success, being hosted by the comic genius that is M.r Matthew Davies. The club would like to thank everyone who purchased items, but in particular, many thanks to Neil and Jackie Davies, of Commercial Garage, for their outstanding contribution to this most exciting auction.

The evening, which continued late into the night with the disco stylings of Andrew Jenkins, raised a grand total of £1,730 for the club's junior teams.

It ended with one more surprise - local cricket legend, Mr. Greg Morris decided the night was the perfect opportunity to propose to his beloved partner, Christine. Everyone at the event was absolutely delighted that they decided to share their special moment with fellow guests at the ball and on behalf of the club, the chairman, Huw Simpkins, would like to congratulate the happy couple.

Event co-ordinator Rhian Howell was overwhelmed with the success of the evening and sincerely thanks all guests, sponsors and committee members for their support, dedication and hard work and hopes to see more next year!
