The first NSPCC Big Bike Ride Tenby is taking place on Friday, September 21.
The ride is for Greenhill School students of all ages and is in aid of the NSPCC, children's charity.
Every year, Big Bike Ride events are held all over the country, but this is the first time it has come to Tenby.
A circular cycle route around the local area is a short, but challenging 7.5-mile ride.
The route will take the cyclists out of the school, along Serpentine Road and on to New Hedges roundabout. The cyclists will then take the first exit off the roundabout and turn left into Devonshire Drive. They will then take a left turn just by Heatherton and head back to school via Gumfreston and Heywood Lane. The ride will commence at 11 am and there is a two-hour slot to get the ride done.
Students must ensure they have a bicycle that is in good working order.
Members of the public using the roads as listed are advised to take cauton whilst driving, keeping an eye out for cyclists between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm on Friday, September 21.
Riders will be placed in groups of five-10 to start with, with around a two-minute interval between each group. This is to help with marshalling.
Of course, safety is paramount and therefore the Highway Code and school rules apply at all times whilst on the route. Students must stick to the Highway Code at all times, as the ride is taking place on a public highway.
The whole route will be very well marshalled. The organisers have been working very closely with the local council and police to ensure that everything is done correctly.
There will be several resting points on the journey for students to re-fuel and re-hydrate. Every student will be provided with water.
At the end of the ride, students will be given a certificate. There will be a small entry fee of £5. All of this money will go to the NSPCC.
The organisers promise a brilliant day and hope that they can welcome the Big Bike Ride back to Tenby in years to come.

Members of the public are also invited to support and encourage the cyclists wherever they can along the route as this would really give them a massive boost.
However, the organisers say they are very short of marshals. They need 30, but only have around 10. Anyone can marshal. Marshals will be required from around 9 am on the Friday morning until around 2 pm. (However, this is subject to change). Marshals will be placed on posts around the course, and transport will be provided from the school to the nessesary position and the return journey. Parking will be availible in the school. A briefing for the marshals will be held before 10 am explaining all aspects of marshaling the event. All marshals will be provided with a marshal pack before the event, highlighting all aspects. No previous experience is required.
For more information on marshaling and for the form, please contact Harrison Sharp on 07968000047 or email [email protected]">[email protected] All marshals must have completed an entry form before Monday, September 10.
