To celebrate the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's historic 2012 Diamond Jubilee, the Woodland Trust is helping millions of people across the UK to come together to plant six-million trees.
Town councillor and Infants school governor, Clr. David Morgan told his colleagues at Tuesday night's meeting of the council that he had been with the pupils during the project, which had also seen then plant a royal oak.
Meanwhile, one councillor would like to see something arranged in Tenby to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee.
"I think there ought to be some sort of celebration in the town; we owe it to the town to commemorate the occasion in some way," said Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter, who also wanted to offer a reminder to anyone who wanted to hold a street party for the celebrations, to apply now with the county council for a road closure licence.
Clr. Mrs. Rossiter also suggested renaming one of the gardens in the town as the Queen's Jubilee Gardens, with the one next to Crackwell Street, overlooking the harbour, as a possible option.
However, her colleague, Clr. Mrs. Trish Putwain, felt that the plan to name the new play park overlooking the South Beach, as the Jubilee Play Park was enough.
Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans suggested that the Tenby in Bloom committee could meet to discuss the options.
