Welsh Assembly Minister Carwyn Jones has presented the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority with a Green Dragon environmental award - the first Welsh Park to achieve the level two standard.
The presentation was made on Friday when the minister visited the authority's new headquarters at Pembroke Dock.
David Fletcher, the authority's sustainable development officer, explained the standard had five levels.
"Level two involved identifying and complying with environmental legislation, maintaining environmental records and required the involvement of staff at all the key National Park sites.
"Auditors visited our visitor sites at Castell Henllys and Carew as well as the Cilrhedyn Woodland Centre, St. Davids Visitor Centre and Llanion headquarters.
"They were impressed with the awareness that staff showed on environmental matters and we will now build on this success and aim for level three."
The award was announced on Friday by Evette Thomas, of Arena Network, which runs the scheme. She was joined by John Hampson, and the certificate was received from the minister by authority member, Mrs. Jane Heard.
During his visit Carwyn Jones received the annual report of the three Welsh National Parks from Meirion Thomas, chairman of the Welsh Association of National Parks, and was also presented with a copy of the State of the Park report by Nic Wheeler, chief executive of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Both reports were launched at the meeting.
