Sir,

I have just spent half-term holiday with my children at the home of my parents in Tenby. After a brisk walk on the North Beach we returned to my parents' home feeling very thirsty, so I went to the shelf where my parents always had a supply of Corona soft drinks, but to our disappointment not one bottle could be found. I asked by mother where the Corona was and she told me that 'Mal the Pop' had retired this summer after serving Tenby and district faithfully for 46 years.

I feel obliged to write to you on behalf of ourselves and other grateful customers to thank Mal for such excellent and courteous service during his 46 years.

I remember looking out for him as a child with my parents in Tenby. Whatever the weather, come wind, ice, rain or snow, Mal never failed to deliver our Corona. At Christmas time he would ease the cost of family expense by selling stamps to us well in advance of Christmas so that they could be used to provide the more expensive cordials and fruit juices on the festive day.

Many of the people in Tenby trusted Mal so much that they would lave their money for Corona in the back kitchen when they were out. Friends of ours in the countryside had told us that Mal had found them both quite ill on a cold winter when he was making a delivery to them and the first thing he did was to make them a warm fire and a cup of tea each.

Mal's retirement marks the end of an era of personal care for customers. We shall all miss him and we wish him a long, happy, healthy retirement.
