COLBY Gallery is delighted to mount a solo exhibition by well-known artist and teacher, Graham Hadlow.
This is an artist who needs no introduction to residents of Tenby, due, not least to his 28 years of teaching at Greenhill School, the last 12 of which he was head of art and design.
During his professional career in education, ceramics was Graham's speciality, but painting, particularly in watercolours, had always played a part in his life. Having achieved some success as well as great satisfaction with his art, he decided in 1998 to make painting his full-time occupation.
Now he concentrates on producing the atmospheric paintings with the wide skies and the rippling shorelines which feature regularly in his compositions. He has a particular affection for boats and estuaries, captured in all seasons, all weathers, moonlight or sunlight.
Gracing the walls of Colby Gallery at the moment (though one assumes not for long) are two stunning paintings of Amroth looking towards Monkstone, one at sunset and the other in the moonlight. If they make it into the Small Gallery for the fortnight of his solo exhibition, it is unlikely they will last the first week - so hurry to catch them, or if not, the best of the rest. For those who are not able to invest in an original, Graham's superb limited edition prints (mounted and framed) will also be on sale.
Aptly titled 'Between the Tides', the exhibition runs from July 5-19, open daily 10 am - 5 pm. Graham will be in the gallery himself to meet visitors and to discuss his work on July 8 and 15. He will also be holding a full day workshop on seascapes on Friday, July 16.
