ONE of the first artists to show a sell-out exhibition at Art Matters Gallery in Tenby was local artist Graham Hadlow. Retiring from teaching at Greenhill School, Tenby, in 1998, he has steadily built his reputation as a 'pure' watercolourist and teacher of adult learners across South Wales, showing his original paintings in a number of galleries. Back by popular demand, Graham's exhibition includes around 40 landscapes and coastal scenes of Pembrokeshire, but also including images from Ireland and Snowdonia. He paints in a gentle, confident realistic style which is easy on the eye and has no hidden messages. He faithfully represents the scene and the atmosphere created by different weathers and distances. Snowy lanes, bright seaside towns, misty estuaries and mountain scenes are shown in Graham's exhibition. Local scenes include Tenby Harbour and South Beach, Saundersfoot, Angle, Solva, Newgale, Nolton Haven, Lower Fishguard, Newport and the Teifi Estuary together with three paintings of Carew Castle. The exhibition opens tomorrow (Saturday) when readers are invited to meet Graham in the gallery during the evening from 7 to 9 pm and continues until Friday, October 28. Art Matters Gallery is open every day except Wednesday from 10 am to 5 pm and admission is free. For further information, please telephone 01834 843375
