An increased entry of 63 calves sold to a good trade on the best quality beef calves achieving a top price of £168 for two Limousins presented by Kedward & Co, Hafod, Llanboidy. Heifers peaked £90 for a Belgian Blue from G. Griffiths & Son, Penlan, New Moat, Clarbeston Road, with Friesian bulls averaging just over £5. In the sheep section, a seasonal entry of hoggetts forward retained recent levels, with the overall average at 108.47p/kg and a top price of 115p/kg for 36.5 kilo hoggetts bred by Evans, Greenwell, Llangybi. Other entries came from a wide area, including two vendors from Sennybridge. New season's lambs are coming on stream with a top price of 157.10p/kg for a 35 kilo lamb entered by Evans, Parc Y Pwll, Blaencelyn, and a 39.5 kilo lamb presented by Messrs. Robinson, Waunllan, Cwmbach, realising 119.10p/kg. Twenty-five non-approved hoggetts sold to a seasonal trade averaging 89.54p/kg or £35 per head. From a total entry of 323 cull ewes and rams, the heavier ewes met a steady trade, with lighter types continuing to meet a more selective demand. Top price was £53.50 for a Suffolk ewe from by Thomas, Carreg Llys, White Mill, with heavy ewes averaging £37.74 and lighter types £22.18. Cull rams made up to £30.50 from Price, Bill Farm, Wolfscastle.
