The Inner Wheel of Pembroke had their first meeting of the year last week. For February, the meetings are being held in the afternoons starting at 2 pm at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel. After that, they will revert back to evening meetings - when there is a speaker they will start at 7 pm, otherwise the business meetings start at 7.30 pm.

The meeting went through all the necessary club business on the agenda and then there were two sets of speakers. The first was Andrew Scott-Davies, who is the treasurer of Pembroke Dock Cricket Club, who talked about its history. His club will be holding an open sports day on April 24 when local children will be able to participate in a range of sports, including archery, athletics, cricket and golf.

The local clubs will be assisting with these activities. Inner Wheel will give a donation to the charity funding this when arrangements are finalised.

The second were four people talking about Street Games, they were Natalie Strain, Communities First lead health officer, Jim Anderson, manager of Pennar Robins Football Club, and two youth volunteers, Bethan Cant and Jake Jones.

They gave very clear information about the roles they hold and their planned 2014 Street Games initiative, which they hope will build on the successes achieved in past years. Bethan and Jake enthusiastically described their pleasure in voluntary coaching.

After the speakers had finished, the president gave Natalie a charity cheque for the Street Games which will be match-funded by Sport Wales.
