On Tuesday, a similar entry of calves to the previous week sold to a similar level of demand, with good quality rearers again being keenly contested with several farmer buyers around the sale ring. Top price was £168 for a Limousin bull presented by Evans, Waterholmes, Llawhaden, with heifers selling to a top price of £120 for a Belgian Blue presented by Fear, Brook Farm, Pendine The largest entry of new season's approved lambs saw 754 head on offer, with good quality Farm Assured Lambs again in strong demand. The overall average was 142.10p/kg, with a top price of 156p/ kg paid for 41 kilo lambs presented by Wilson, Middle Pool, Pendine. Other leading prices were obtained by Bowen, Kyngadle Farm, Laugharne and Fairclough, Frowen, Login. Top price per head was £65.80 for 55 kilo lambs entered by Walker, Wernlas, Porthyrhyd. Some 26 Hoggetts forward sold to an overall average of 95.82p/kg. An entry of almost 400 culls saw the stronger ewes meeting a slightly easier trade, although demand for the plainer ewes continues to improve. Top price was £50.50 for ewes presented by Codd & Lewis, Glenview, Camrose, with other leading prices including £50 from Bowen, Rose Villa, Bethesda, also £46 and £44 from Howells, Garth Villa, Drefach. Cull rams sold to £43 from Evans & Co., Bryncleddau, Wolfscastle. Would-be buyers are asked to note that the first of the sheep sales will be held on Friday, July 1, and will continue fortnightly until October 21.
