CONGRATULATIONS to Brian and Yvonne Cotter, of Kilgetty, who celebrate their Golden Wedding tomorrow (Saturday).

The couple, who hail from Cardiff, originally met while working in different departments of a large company in the Welsh capital.

"When we met, Yvonne's grandmother saw me and my bright ginger hair and said to her, it would never last," joked Brian.

Later on, after their marriage, the couple moved into the licensing trade and ran a pub in Pentyrch, near Cardiff, called the Lewis Arms.

The couple relocated to Pembrokeshire 10 years ago to semi-retire.

"We spent our honeymoon at the caravan park next to the Fountain Head in Pentlepoir, so the area held special memories for us," said Yvonne. After moving to the area, they ran the Albany Hotel in The Norton, Tenby, for eight years, before officially retiring and moving to Heritage Gardens in Kilgetty three years ago.

"Since moving down to the area we have settled in very well and all the locals have been very welcoming to us and our family," remarked Brian. They have three daughters, two of whom, Sharon and her partner Darren, along with Tracey and her partner Julian, have all set up home in the area near their parents, while Debra and her partner Ian live in Jersey.

Brian and Yvonne have eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The couple and their family are all keen charity fund-raisers for Cystic Fibrosis, as two of their great-grandchildren suffer with the disease.

Apart from the celebrations on the day of their 50th anniversary, the couple will be holidaying in Spain next month courtesy of a trip paid for by their daughters and elder grandchildren.
