CELEBRATING their 50th wedding anniversary with a visit to the town where they spent their honeymoon are Mike and Betty Grove.

The couple fell in love with Tenby after their visit in 1952 and have holidayed in Pembrokeshire's premier resort every year since.

So when it came planning for their Golden Wedding anniversary on July 12, Mike and Betty's children, Jayne, Richard and Jill, knew that a trip to Tenby was the only answer.

The couple, of Bentley Heath, Solihull, are spending this week at their usual haunt, a flat in Croft Court which enjoys a magnificent view over the North Beach and Harbour, but as an anniversary treat from their children they will be staying the weekend at the Atlantic Hotel on the Esplanade, where Mike has always wanted to stay.

Over the years, Mike and Betty, who met when they both worked for the Avon India Rubber Company in Birmingham, have taken a great interest in life in Tenby and have made a large number of friends during their visits, many of whom they still keep in touch with.

"We never tire of coming to Tenby," smiled Mike, who first visited the town with his parents when he was a child. "It really is the jewel in the crown."

Mike and Betty have instilled their love of Tenby into their children and they, too, now regularly holiday in the area with their families.

"We just love it here," said Betty.

"We have visited other places in Great Britain and Europe, but Tenby is our favourite and we always manage to fit in a holiday to come here each year, and sometimes more than one," she added.

As well as their three children, Mike and Betty have three grandchildren, Alice, Thomas and Catriona.

The couple are looking forward to their golden celebrations and are hoping to get in another 180-mile trip to South Pembrokeshire before the year is out.
