Go Walkies for Guide Dogs has resulted in the magnificent sum of £1,483.50 being raised to help train guide dogs for visually impaired people.

The sponsored dog walk was organised by Kim Jamieson and supported by Pawprints Dog Walking Group, Willow Tree Dog School and Pets Pantry Pembs.

The local fundraising branch would like to say a huge thank you to Kim and her supporters, and also to everyone who took part in the walk on October 9 from Coppet Hall to Stepaside.

A special thank you also goes to all the dogs who got themselves sponsored and ensured that their owners took part in what proved to be a most enjoyable event.

Another event which helped raise much-needed funds was a stall at the recent Community Fayre at the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot.

The winner of the 'Guess My Name' competition, which was concluded at another event in Milford Haven last Saturday, was Pauline Phillips, with the winning name being Timothy.

The chair person and members of the Tenby and Pembrokeshire Fundraising Branch would like to take the opportunity of thanking everyone for their support throughout 2011, the many friends who have helped with collections, coffee mornings, concerts and the stalls on Saundersfoot Harbour through the summer, together with the businesses in the county who take care of life-size and counter collecting boxes.

"There have also been some generous donations, all very much appreciated," said secretary Eva Rich.

"A very happy Christmas and a healthy and peaceful 2012 is the wish for you all, and we look forward to your support in the future."

If anyone would like to join a hard-working group and raise funds for a very worthwhile charity providing visually impaired people with mobility and independence in safety, please contact the secretary, Eva Rich, on 01834 812868.

"May we conclude by asking you all to save your used postage stamps and any redundant mobile phones," added Eva.
