There has been some good news for health services in South Pembrokeshire this week. Planners have given the thumbs up to an application for a new 25-bed building for bed space for Tenby Cottage Hospital and nursing home accommodation on land at Park House Court, Narberth Road, Tenby. The application by local-based company GKV Developments was approved by Pembrokeshire County Council's planning and rights of way committee, subject to conditions, on Tuesday. The proposal will see the construction of a two- storey building to accommodate 25 en suite rooms, together with a kitchen, dining/lounge, treatment room, laundry and office. It does not include a physical link between the building and the existing nursing home and would have its own access. A car park with 26 spaces will also be constructed adjacent to the building. Said Jenny Bowen, nursing director for the Local Health Board: "We are currently working on the detail of the contract for the provision of 10 beds in the independent sector at Park House Court." When contacted by the Observer, no one was available for comment at Park House Court.
