Tenby could be set to have a continental counterpart this time next year.
Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who has outlined plans for the town to twin with Gibraltar, returned this week from a successful trip to the British overseas territory, where she discussed the prospect of twinning with the Mayor of Gibraltar.
"Their Mayor was absolutely thrilled with the possibility of twinning with Tenby," she told her colleagues at a meeting of the town council on Tuesday night.
"As well as having a long association with Gibraltar and a great affinity with the Royal Artillery, they experience similar problems to our town - such as seagulls and parking!" she joked.
"It's a very interesting place and I hope we can go forward with the idea," she continued, stating that a contingent of councillors could travel over to Gibraltar next year to sign a charter agreement.
