This year's annual sponsored cycle ride in aid of the local branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association has been arranged for Sunday, October 3 - pedal off 2 pm - and as usual will be held on Pendine Beach. This annual event has taken place each October since the late 1970s and has raised thousands of pounds over the years. The first week of October is National Guide Dog Week, so why not get the week off to a really great start in Pembrokeshire with a better than ever sponsored bike ride. The distance is 10 miles, two-and-a-half miles up and back twice. If you think 10 miles is too far for you, why not get friends to join you and make a team. Trophies are awarded for the best sponsored under 15, best sponsored individual adult and the best sponsored team. The event is not a race and there is no age limit, with riders from as young as five up to well in their 70s. Why not go along to Pendine Beach and have an enjoyable afternoon, putting fun into fund-raising, and at the same time supporting a very worthwhile charity which provides mobility and independence in safety for visually impaired people. For more information and sponsor forms please contact branch chair person, Shelagh Griffin, 01834 812809, or guide dog owner and branch secretary, Eva Rich, 01834 812868.
