Narberth got off to a good start in their West Wales Premier League campaign with an emphatic win at Llangennech and the performance of a number of players will have made the first team selectors sit up and take notice. Play was fairly even for the first 20 minutes, but centre Dafydd Evans started the ball rolling with a try following a brilliant run from the halfway line. Richard Morris added the points for the conversion. Although Llangennech remained in contention, the Athletic extended the lead when winger Geraint Beynon finished off a nice move with an unconverted try in the corner. The second half started like the first with little to choose between the teams for the first 20 minutes and Llangennech came close to scoring. However, the Narberth defence held firm. Following a counter-attack, Geraint Beynon picked up his second try of the match, which was converted by Richard Morris. Gradually the visitors got on top and their superior fitness showed. Fittingly, with the last move of the game, Geraint Beynon completed his hat-trick of the tries, but Richard Morris was unable to add to the points for the conversion. For the Narberth team, Alex Hill and David Thomas showed up prominently in the back row and Dafydd Evans gave a sizzling performance at centre.
