Help for improvements to the grounds of Parc Gwyn Crematorium, near Narberth - which draw many admiring comments from visitors – have been made possible thanks to a generous gift.
Rosemary Hillen, the mother of the late Gareth Hillen, has given a donation of £500 in his memory, to be spent on improving the crematorium grounds.
Gareth Hillen built up many friends working on shutdowns at both the Murco and Valero refineries. Rosemary works as a chef in the Murco canteen.
She raised the £500 through donations from family and friends and by selling raffle tickets for gifts provided by local shops.
Rosemary, who lives in Milford Haven, would like to express her thanks to everyone, including Murco staff and also her work colleagues at her employer BaxterStorey, all of whom contributed to the raffle and donation.
She gave the cheque to Pembrokeshire County Council Deputy leader, Clr. Huw George, following a formal presentation at Parc Gwyn last week.
"It is a very kind gesture and one that is much appreciated," said Clr. George. "The money will be put to good use to ensure that the grounds continue to be maintained to the highest standards."
