New plans for a multi-million pound scheme that will encompass the former Gatehouse Hotel site in Tenby are to be discussed by local councillors next week.

Plans submitted earlier in the year by developers Dovey Estates and Mr. Graham Fry through applicants South Terrace Properties Ltd., had hit a hitch when it was revealed that they had not been validated or registered with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.

However, the current set of plans for the scheme, which the applicants say will 'provide economic benefit and amenities to the seaside resort while preserving an historical part of the town', are now set to be discussed, after a spokesperson for the authority confirmed that the plans had now been registered.

Members of Tenby Town Council will consider them at their meeting on Tuesday night, while they will come before the development management committee of the National Park Authority at their meeting on May 19.

"Copies will be available to view by the end of next week at Tenby's National Park Centre on the South Parade," said the Park spokesperson.

"C2J Architects from Cardiff, are also organising an open evening at the end of the month when the public will be able to meet the architects."

The plans include the proposed construction of 39 apartments, a 68-bed hotel and retail development with on-site parking, amenity and new access road, on the site of the former Royal Gatehouse Hotel (destroyed by fire in 2008), and the adjoining properties at Milford House and Kent House, the Royal Playhouse Cinema and land at Clifton Rock.

Further applications also include proposals to redevelop the Royal Lion Hotel in White Lion Street, which will include partial demolition, extension, refurbishment and alterations to the property to form 15 apartments along with retail units, while there are also plans for proposed residential and commercial units at the Delphi Apartments in South Parade.
