Vandalism in Tenby's gardens continues to be a problem, the town clerk reported to members of the town council at their meeting on Tuesday evening. Last week, youngsters playing football caused problems in the Gilroy Phillips Garden, and later it was discovered that the Tenby and District Lions sun-dial had been vandalised. The clerk said that the police had been contacted over the matter, and that Rhodri Jenkins, of the county council's municipal department, had also been informed and had suggested that the fence surrounding the garden could be shortened as a short-term solution.
