Earlier in the year, Megan and Peter Gwyther, of Brawdy Farm, generously opened their garden one weekend in order to raise money in support of the excellent work of the Paul Sartori Foundation. This week, all those efforts in preparing for and running the two days in June came to fruition as a cheque for £4,000 was received by Lorna Johns, hospice director, from Ros Raymond, of the fund-raising group. Also in the picture is Joan Mathias, a foundation trustee, and Megan Gwyther. In gratefully accepting the gift, Lorna Johns said: "We are not miracle workers, but we work hard to deliver the best possible care. "Because we train our nurses and carers specifically for the help they are required to give, everyone can be assured that their dear ones are and will be in very good hands. "The work of the Paul Sartori Foundation is managed by trustees who give of their time on a voluntary basis. "They have worked extremely hard over the years since the charity was registered in 1982 and have been supported by a large number of volunteers who run our four charity shops. "We also carry out various fund-raising activities and assist with office duties at the patient support facility. "Every effort is made to ensure that costs of administration are kept low so that more is spent on care," she added. Ros Raymond expressed the appreciation of the group to everyone who had so willingly given their support and especially thanked Megan and Peter Gwyther for being 'truly magnificent'.
