Sir, I was disappointed that Tenby Town Council gave the thumbs down to the proposed theatre in Brother Thomas's Memorial Garden. I have cherished memories of two superb productions held at 'Clovers' on the North Cliff - and that was 40 years ago! And like many others, I have an unforgettable memory of my one visit to the Minack in Cornwall. Surely these are the sort of lasting memories which people should have after visiting Tenby. There are still many Tenby residents who knew brother Thomas, and hold him in strong affection, but his sadly neglected memorial garden does nothing to reflect this. Gary Tapley seems to be the only person to take an interest in it, and his enthusiasm and energy should be commended. Surely, to celebrate life in music and drama would be a fitting memorial to commemorate a life well-spent. The council vote was a 5/5 split, with the casting vote given by the Mayor. So close - can't this innovative plan be reconsidered?

June Howell,

Penally, Tenby.

PS. Congratulations to Colby Woodland Gardens for hosting a superb story-telling evening last Saturday. Christine Cooper's breath-taking solo performance was exactly the type of outdoor production which could and should be gracing an outdoor venue in Tenby.
