Carew Play and Learn Group had their new garden and outside play area, officially opened by Mrs. Joan Morris, headmistress of Sageston CP School last Thursday.
Supervisor, Michelle Grove thanked her assistant Gwen Head who came up with the idea and secured a grant from PAVS without which, work would not have begun.
She also thanked the Carew Memorial Hall committee for use of their land. Mr. George Davies from the committee and community council was among those present at the opening.
In addition, thanks also went to Carew Cricket Club who let the group use their garage for the artwork, which was designed and painted by Mairwen Head, with assistance from her mother Gwen and group treasurer Jenny Griffiths.
The paving slabs were kindly donated by Stephen Hawkins Concrete Products, Camrose Haverfordwest, while sand was supplied by Thomas Scourfield and Sons.
The patio was laid by Mr. Joe Viggars with help from Martin Gilpin Home Improvements, Milton and some of the flowers were supplied by Grandiflora Garden Centre, St Florence.
The garden is intended to teach the children about plants, how to grow and tend them and to respect the wildlife found in and around the garden.
