Holiday site Kiln Park on the outskirts of Tenby will be closed for the weekend, due to the ‘danger to life’ flood warning threat issued by Natural Resources Wales - with further severe flooding a possibility later this evening, due to rising river levels, and a high tide at 6.30pm (November 6).
With the Riter River levels remaining high and rising around the locality, the Kiln Park caravan site; the B4318 road at Clicketts Lane; Gumfreston Road; and the minor road at Trefloyne Lane all remain under threat from further flooding in that locality.
A spokesperson for Natural Resources Wales said: “Significant disruption to the community is ongoing, with severe flooding, and severe impacts ongoing in this area.
“Water levels may remain high for several days due to restriction of the tidal outfall. This is likely to result in water levels rising over the period of each high tide.
“The heaviest rainfall has now cleared this area. We will continue to monitor the situation.”
County councilor for Tenby’s south ward, Cllr Sam Syrme-Blackhall shared: “NRW are continuing to monitor the situation.
“There is expected another high tide at approximately 6.30pm this evening and the multi agency operational teams will continue to monitor residential properties in the flood area.
“I can confirm that the Tenby Ambulance Station is remaining operational but there may be slight delays to responses due to the B4318 road closure.
“NRW are in discussion with Kiln Park and will be liaising with them over any action and currently access and egress to the site remains.
“Our highways teams are monitoring the situation around the Salterns and Kiln Park areas. They are equipped with sandbags and prepared to respond should conditions escalate.
“The B4318 at Gumfreston remains closed and drivers are advised not to attempt to drive through the road closure.”
