Tenby Round Table's Summer Spectacular was always one of the main highlights of the Tenby summer scene, but this year chairman Ray and his team have gone for a slightly different theme.
"I think we, as a Table, realised that the Spectacular needed re-energising," chairman Ray explained. "We've gone for a slightly smaller, more intimate event which puts more emphasis on fun for all the family."
While there will be no aerobatic display this year, Tablers still promise a programme packed full of fun, including rescue displays, magic, circus antics, dance performances, street entertainment, live bands and a spectacular firework display.
Generously sponsored by Greens Motors of Haverfordwest, and Kiln Park, the events run from 3 pm when Samba Tawe, jugglers and stilt walkers will lead everyone down to the harbour for the official opening by Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane.
Folly Farm's resident crazy clown Chunkie Russell, UK Sreet Performers, Seren School of Irish Dancing and local DJ 'Wacky' Wayne Wharton will keep the party atmosphere bouncing throughout the afternoon, while Tenby's lifeboat the Haydn Miller will also be making a splash at the event.
The fun continues with live local bands Young Staz and Deep Joy on the Chevron sponsored stage until the traditional climax of the event, a spectacular firework display at around 10 pm.
In addition to all the live entertainment, there will also plenty to see and do for all the family, including side shows and stalls managed by local charities, bouncy castles, surf board rides, Gladiator contests, face painting courtesy of Real Radio, refreshments, including pig roasts, burger stalls, crepes, Welsh cakes hot off the griddle, a licensed bar, and much, much more.
This year a rearranging of the attractions has kept all the stalls within the Harbour area and will also allow the jugglers, stilt walkers, magicians and Kiln Park's ever popular cartoon characters to mingle and entertain the crowd.
The event on July 20, and the second party on August 3 are Tenby Round Table's main fund- raisers for the year, with all money raised being donated to local charities and organisations for the benefit of the local community.
Any local charities that wish to join in the fun and raise funds for themselves by having their own stalls at the event, but have not yet done so, are asked to contact Ray for further information. "My fellow Tablers and all our volunteers work tremendously hard, both in the build up to, and during, the event, and, thanks to everyone involved, and everyone in and around the harbour who allow us to stage the events, a lot of local charities and organisations have benefited over the years," said Ray. "May I, in advance, thank everyone involved, particularly all our sponsors, for their support, and everyone in and around the harbour for their tolerance in allowing us to stage the events once again.
"There will be plenty of fun and entertainment going on throughout the day, just come along, join in and help us make this another bumper year for a lot of worthy causes," he added.
