It was a fullhouse at Narberth's Queen's Hall on Sunday evening for a showing of the climate change film, 'The Inconvenient Truth', made by the former vice-president of the USA, Al Gore. Later that night, the film picked up an Oscar at the Academy Awards at Los Angeles. The showing of the 'Inconvenient Truth' was put on jointly by Pembrokeshire Friends of the Earth and the Narberth Film Club. This was the second big event of the week on climate change and followed the highly successful Tuesday evening presentation by one of the world's top scientists, Sir John Houghton. A Pembrokeshire Friends of the Earth spokesperson said: "Both events on climate change that we put on this week attracted a large crowd, with people travelling to Narberth from all parts of the county. This shows that the issue is now a major concern for people. We hope that our political representatives at both local and national level will give far more attention to policies that will reduce emissions of climate-changing gases. "The Al Gore film was inspirational as it demonstrated that, although the problem we face is large, there is an awful lot we can do now to reduce the threat of climate change. What is lacking is sufficient political will."
