Friends of Dean Evans have raised over £12,000 for charity.

Dean was killed in Pembroke and since then his friends have been raising money in his memory.

Last year, a cricket match was held and raised £9,000 and his friends took part in a three day rally around Wales which raised a further £3,000.

A total of £5,000 of that raised has been donated to Withybush Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.

The other money raised through the cricket match was donated to a six-year-old girl called Emily from Milford Haven who suffers from Hirschbungs disease.

Nikki MacKay said: "Emily's dream was to visit the British Grand Prix at Silverstone as she has a very keen interest in racing and she even has her very own racing suit!

"The Dean Evans Memorial Fund has enabled Emily's dreams to come true as we are sending her to Silverstone on June 21, along with her parents Jill and Dai.

"Emily is very excited about the trip and cannot wait to attend Silverstone to watch the Grand Prix.

"We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for all the support given to the Dean Evans Memorial Fund by the local businesses and community and hope they will continue to support us."

Dean's friends are holding another rally in June in an attempt to raise more funds in memory of him and a cricket match will be held on August 16 at Stackpole Cricket Club.

Everyone is welcome to attend and support the event. If you require any further information about this year's event please contact Richard MacKay at [email protected]">[email protected]
