THE local Friends of Tenovus group are calling on volunteers from the Tenby area to spare a few hours a week and join their fund-raising committee.

The Tenby Friends of Tenovus has a long history and have been fund-raising for over 25 years for the Welsh cancer charity. To date, they have raised over £140,000.

The committee is inviting people who are interested in volunteering to their next meeting, held at 2.30 on Monday, March 9, at Greenhill Community Centre.

All funds raised from the Friends of Tenovus fund-raising committee will go towards funding the UK's first ever, holistic mobile cancer support unit currently piloting in South East Wales. With continued fund-raising support, Tenovus hopes to launch a second mobile unit to deliver cancer care and treatment closer to home for patients in West Wales.

Cerys Jones, community fund-raiser for Tenovus, said: "If you think you can give up a few hours of your spare time each month to help Tenovus, please come along to the next meeting - it's also a fantastic opportunity to have fun and meet new people while raising money for a great cause."
