The 17th annual general meeting of the Friends of Tenby Museum and Art Gallery was held at St. Johns Church, Tenby, last week.

A good number of Friends attended and Mrs. Helen Hills gave the chairman's address, reporting another successful year.

She retired as chairman and was thanked for her four years work on behalf of the Friends.

Mr. Lew Day was elected to serve as chairman and Mrs. Margaret Hill was elected vice-chairman.

Following the formal business of the evening, Mr. Terry John, author of The Civil War in Pembrokeshire, spoke to the members about Tenby in the Civil War.

It was a fascinating insight into the period and he confounded many of the myths about dress and lifestyle that exist showing just how important Tenby and Pembrokeshire had been in the years of conflict.

Before the meeting finally closed, all attending were invited to join with the committee for refreshments and to discuss the Friends' plans for future events to support the museum.

The next Friends' event is a coffee morning at Church House on May 30. All are welcome to attend.
