Sunday, April 1, saw the arrival of 45 friends from Pipriac on their bi-ennial visit to Whitland. They were given a welcome reception by their hosts for the next five days and Kathy Phillips (secretary) extended a warm welcome to friends old and new from Pipriac.

The evening was spent with host families at home, which was a welcome relief after a long journey with a somewhat rough crossing from Caen. Monday was a leisurely start with a visit to Tenby to sample the delights of a fish and chip lunch at Fecci's, followed by free time to enjoy the glorious sunshine.

In the evening, the visitors from Pipriac, together with their host families were guests of the Corran Singers in Laugharne, who were reciprocating the hospitality they received when they performed two concerts in Brittany in October 2005. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by French and Welsh alike, with folk dancing for all to join in and this was followed by Huw Evans and his Country and Western music and Ian Evans, Jodie Warlow and Clive Edwards all gave solo performances to the enjoyment of everyone present. The Corran Singers provided a marvellous buffet and, of course, wine. The Whitland Twinning Association wish to thank Heather Jenkins and all members of the Corran Singers for all their hard work.

Tuesday morning, the Pipriac visitors went to the National Woollen Mill Museum, followed by a picnic lunch and then on to the Museum of Childhood and the evening was spent with host families.

On Wednesday, the visitors made their way to Carmarthen for some shopping, before enjoying a wonderful picnic lunch in Laugharne in glorious sunshine, and afterwards visited the castle and the boathouse, before returning to Whitland for the evening soiree in the Town Hall.

Thursday morning was free for all to relax before leaving Whitland at 3 pm to head back to Brittany. Once again Whitland's French friends enjoyed a very successful visit and the weather could not have been better.

Thanks go to the Twinning Committee for all their hard work and to the host families for providing accommodation during the visit.
