A SECOND series of the popular 'Hands On History' workshops at the Pembrokeshire Record Office are to be held over the next few months.

The free Saturday afternoon sessions proved a hit first time round and advanced booking is advised.

The workshops teach people about the varying types of records held at the office in Haverfordwest Castle and how to make best use of them for research.

"They are aimed at complete novices, but more experienced people are welcome to attend," said county archivist, Claire Orr, who will be supervising two of the workshops.

"Each session lasts for two hours and will take people through a particular topic and show them how to make the most of the records."

The dates and subjects are:

• March 6: getting more from your sources

• April 3: local authority records

• June 5: Poor Law records

• July 3: Coroners' records

• August 7: shipping and mariners' records

• September 4: legal records.
