What a good day it was at Meidrim School on Tuesday, with members of the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland seeing the pupils receive the Rotakids Charter from Mike Phillips.

Mike was a very charming, humble young man who was fluent in the Welsh language and was perfect for the presentation. He made time in his very busy schedule home from Dubai to come along to the school with mum Morfydd. Congratulations to him and his wife on their pending new arrival in August.

We will have another Welsh cap in a few years time as Mike told us it was a little boy they were expecting.

Thanks to AG Derek Lloyd for coming along, too, to help with the presentation.

Liz Burns managed to get Mike to sign a ball and shirts, so we are well on the way to getting the Bancyfelin Boys Lions Shirt completed.

Thanks to Ann Jones and her daughter Sian for providing delicious cream cakes and tea party for the children. It will be remembered at the school for a long time.

Grateful thanks to headteacher Steffan Jones for embracing all the Global Citizen concepts of Rotakids, and it’s refreshing to know that we are now educating and recruiting our Rotarians for the future.

This is the age we want to introduce the children to Rotary values, so in the future our Youth competitions and membership are thriving in the future.
