An articulated lorry, heading for Lidl stores in Pembroke Dock and Milford Haven, overturned on Sageston roundabout in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police and council workers from both Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire were on the scene within 15 minutes and were quick to set up road diversions so the load could be cleared off the road.
The driver escaped from the lorry unscathed and vehicle inspectors were called to assess the scene and determine what caused the vehicle to overturn.
The road was strewn with food materials, including sunflower oil and apple juice, and some diesel which had leaked from the lorry.
The lorry was eventually righted at about mid-day and was later taken to nearby yard to assess the damage.
The road was re-opened at 2 pm after all the spillage had been cleared.
The quick response by council workers and police helped prevent the situation becoming any worse and their speed in setting up of road diversions managed to limit delays.
